Gundog Training Awards - Gold
Objectives
Handlers will gain an understanding of communication skills to include voice tone,
body language and whistle work. Advancing training towards directional retrieving,
hunting, whistle work and increased steadiness including shot. The training covers
in depth, all aspects of the skills required by the Kennel Club in their Working
Gundog Certificate and is structured into manageable chunks, each increasing the
complexity of the exercises learned in previous terms. These newly acquired skills
will be assessed as a way of building confidence in the handlers and giving you
something to aim for on the road to having a well trained gundog and an obedient
companion.
Aim
- Handler to walk with dog at heel
- Handler to walk with dog at heel with the distraction of people and other dogs
- Steadiness to dummies
- Sit stay with a distraction of moving dogs
- Recall to the handler
- Seen retrieves with or without shot
- Deliver a dummy to hand
- Advanced whistle work, including the stop whistle
- Directional retrieves, left, rights and the back retrieves
- Retrieving from cover
- Hunting commands, vocal or with the use of the whistle.
- Blind retrieves
- Jumping on command
